South Africa starts with victory in the first game of Super 8 by defeating USA by 18 runs in the on-going t20 world cup 2024 which is played between South Africa and USA at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
USA cannot chase the target of 195 runs given by South Africa. USA can only manage to score 176 runs by losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. USA batsman tried their best but couldn't secure a victory in their first game against South Africa. For USA, Opener played their important role from batting side. Opener Steven Taylor and Andries Gous scored 24 runs in 14 deliveries including 4 boundaries and one six and 80 runs in 47 deliveries including 5 boundaries and 5 sixes. Middle order fails to contribute runs for the team in result team loss the game. Captain Aaron Jones goes for a duck after playing 5 balls. While, Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh scored 12 runs in 12 balls and 38 runs in 22 balls which include 2 boundaries and 3 sixes. Other batsman couldn't add runs in double digits for team. Overall, USA tried best and played well from batting side as well.
South African bowlers look heavy on USA batsman while they can successfully give victory to their team. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada picks the highest wicket as he take 3 wickets by conceding only 18 runs in 4 overs. While, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamshi take equal one wickets for each by giving 24 runs, 37 runs and 50 runs respectively.
In the first innings, South Africa bated very well as Opener De Kock played with aggressive from the beginning. For South Africa, Opener Quinton de Kock scored his first half-century in this world cup as he scored 74 runs in 40 balls including 7 boundaries and 5 sixes. While, another opener Reeza Hendricks goes after scoring 11 runs in 11 balls. Captain Aiden Markram scored 46 runs from 32 balls with the help of 4 fours and 1 six. Similarly, Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs played really well in the death overs. Klaasen scored 36 runs in 22 deliveries including 3 sixes and Stubbs scored 20 runs in 16 balls including 2 boundaries.
USA bowlers cannot do great with bowling. For USA, only two bowlers can take two wickets. Saurabh Netravalkar take two wickets conceding 21 runs in 4 overs while Harmeet Singh also take two wickets by conceding 24 runs in 4 overs. While, other bowlers cannot take single wickets which South African batsman score more runs in the board.
Quinton de Kock became Player of the Match(POM) due to his outstanding batting performances as he scored 74 runs in 40 balls including 7 boundaries and 5 sixes.
