South Africa are finally into the final after defeating Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final in the on-going t20 world cup 2024 which is played between South Africa and Afghanistan at Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
South Africa chased the small target of 57 runs given by Afghanistan in 8.5 overs by losing only one wicket. South Africa batters complete the small target and reached into the final. For this, Opener Quinton de Kock departs after scoring just 5 runs in 8 balls. While, another opener Reeza Hendricks scored 29 runs in 25 balls including 3 boundaries and 1 sixes. Similarly, Captain Aiden Markram scored not out 23 runs in 21 deliveries including 4 boundaries. Hendricks and Markram finished the game and bring victory that they successfully reached into the final.
Afghanistan bowlers take only one wickets where the target is very low. For Afghanistan, Fazalhaq Farooqi take only wicket for Afghanistan as he take 1 wicket by conceding 11 runs in 2 overs.
In the first innings, South African looks heavy on Afghanistan batsman. Afghani batters couldn't perform in this game. Everyone looks like they throwing their wickets easily. For Afghanistan, three batsman goes for a duck. While, only one batsman can score runs in double digits. After early dismissal of both openers, Afghanistan come into a big trouble. Afghanistan opening pair was good in this tournament but middle and lower order are very weak. In this game, both opener fails to score runs for Afghanistan. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz departs for a duck after playing 3 balls while another opener Ibrahim Zadran scored just 2 runs in 5 deliveries. Captain Rashid Khan scored 8 runs in 8 deliveries including 2 boundaries. Azmatullah Omarzai scored scored the only double digit runs for Afghanistan as he scored 10 runs 12 balls including 2 boundaries. While, another batsman couldn't add runs in double digits.
South African bowlers really performed very well in this entire tournament. They restrict many low total many times as well. In this game, bowlers did their job so perfectly so that they get a low total and can successfully win this game. Fully credit goes to the bowlers for the victory of this game. Bowler Macro Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi both take equal 3 wickets for each. Similarly, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje both take equal 2 wickets for each by conceding 14 runs and 7 respectively in 3 overs each.
Macro Jansen became Player of the Match(POTM) due to his outstanding bowling performance as he take crucial three wickets by conceding only 16 runs in 3 overs.
